Air Borealis is a regional airline serving the Canadian North. It was established in 2017 as a subsidiary of PAL Airlines to enhance economic growth and aviation infrastructure of the indigenous communities. Air Borealis utilizes a large fleet of de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otters for its services. These 19 seaters can operate from semi prepared strips and even waterways when floats are attached.

Check in rules

Air Borealis online check-in opens 24 hours before the scheduled flight time. Online check-in is not available for passengers traveling with an infant, with special needs, or in groups of 10 or more. Ensure you arrive early to complete check-in procedures.

Baggage

Air Borealis allows each passenger to check up to two pieces of baggage free of charge that must not exceed a combined total weight of 50 lbs, and their maximum size must not exceed 62 linear inches. Acceptable personal items include, but are not limited to, a purse with maximum dimensions of 10”x12”x8” (LxWxH). Sky Check Service allows for proper storage of one additional item in front of the cabin, such as a backpack with a laptop, fragile or valuable items, camera, or diaper bag.

Unaccompanied minors

Air Borealis provides pre-boarding for unaccompanied minors (ages 8 to 11), passengers with small children, or those needing assistance. Unaccompanied minors must book through the Reservations office and be accompanied by an adult at check-in, who must complete a form and remain at the terminal until the flight departs. The service charge is $35+tax per direction.

Infants

Air Borealis allows children under two to fly free of charge if traveling with a fare-paying adult. Infants must sit on the adult's lap during the flight, including taxi, takeoff, landing, and when the seat belt sign is on. Only one infant per fare-paying adult is allowed.

Pets

Air Borealis does not accept animals from October 15 to April 15. During other times, pets may travel on cargo flights by arrangement. The maximum weight for checked animals, including the container, is 45 kg (100 lbs). For larger containers, contact the cargo department. Additional charges apply for pet transportation.
