Conviasa is the national flag carrier of Venezuela. It was established by a government decree in 2004 and started operations with De Havilland Dash 7 and Boeing 737-200 aircraft. The fleet has since been modernized with Airbus A340 and Embraer E190 aircraft. The airline's hub is at Simon Bolivar International Airport near Caracas. It serves many national and international routes within Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, long haul flights to Iran, Russia and China are also operated at a low frequency.
