Malta Air is a joint venture between Ryanair and the government of Malta. It was set-up in 2019 with a fleet of 6 B737-800 aircraft. The fleet has grown quickly to well over 100 aircraft and now also includes brand new examples of the B737-8 MAX 200. The airline flies both under its own branding and that of its parent Ryanair. It now operates out of several Ryanair bases in Europe in addition to its main base at Malta's Luqa International Airport.

Malta Air, the subsudiary of Ryanaair check-in can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 30 minutes before departure.Online check-in takes place from 30 days to 4 hours before the scheduled flight.

Malta Air hand luggage can be paid to include baggage at 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, up to 10 kg. Additional small bag 35 x 20 x 20 cm. Each passenger is allowed to check in up to 2 pieces of luggage (each bag may weigh no more than 20 kg) subject to payment if applicable

Infants are defined as children under two years of age. Infants may fly without a seat on the Malta Air plane, on the lap of an accompanying adult. You can buy a seat for an infant at the infant fare. Children over two years of age must have their own seats on the plane. If one adult travels with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant, and the other may be held on the lap.
