Check in rules

Alaska Airlines Check-in is required 60 minutes before departure for international flights and 40 minutes for domestic flights. Late check-in may result in the cancellation of the reserved seats and the entire reservation. It is also possible to check-in online.

Baggage

The size limit for carry-on luggage on flights is up to 22 x 14 x 9 inches - these dimensions include wheels and handles. Alaska Airlines One carry-on bag, one small personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag, and medical necessities are allowed on board. The maximum checked baggage size may not exceed 50 pounds, and the full size is 62 inches (linear). Any baggage (including free checked bags) exceeding the permitted dimensions or weight is subject to additional fees.

Unaccompanied minors

Children ages 5-17 can travel alone. Children 5-7 years old require Junior Jetsetter service, an escort at the gate, and contact with a guardian; Alaska Airlines travel cannot begin between 9 pm-5 pm, non-stop/direct flights only. Junior Jetsetter is not full service and is required for children 8-12 years old. For children 13-17 years old, Junior Jetsetter service is optional. Children of this age may travel independently.

Infants

Children under the age of two are considered infants. The airline does not set a minimum age for an infant. Children over two years of age must occupy a separate seat and travel on their ticket. Children under two years of age may travel Alaska Airlines on the lap of an accompanying person.

Pets

Alaska Airlines only accepts cats and dogs on board. Pets must be at least eight weeks old. Places for pets in the Alaska Airlines cabin or the cargo compartment are provided, depending on availability. Brachycephalic or "short-nosed" dogs and cats are not allowed in the cargo compartment on flights. However, brachycephalic or "short-nosed" dogs and cats may still travel in the cabin with their passengers, provided their carrier fits under the seat. No more than two live puppies or kittens between the ages of 8 weeks to 6 months of a comparable size and weighing up to 20 pounds each may be carried in the same carrier.
