The airline was founded 1961 as Henson Aviation. It was renamed to Piedmont Airlines in 1993 by the then parent company USAir. Today, Piedmont Airlines is part of the American Eagle group of airlines and wholly owned by American Airlines. It operates a large fleet of Embraer ERJ145 aircraft from its hubs at Charlotte, Philadelphia and Phoenix.

Piedmont Airlines airlines web check-in starts 48 hours before departure & closes 12 hours before the time of departure for economic classes. You must arrive 3-4 hours before departure to check in at the airport.
