Zambia Airways was originally founded in 1964 as Zambia's flag carrier. It was dissolved by the government in 1994. In 2021, the airline was revived with the help of Ethiopian Airlines. It currently flies a single example of the Bombardier Q400 regional turboprop sourced from Ethiopian. Destinations are currently limited to a few domestic cities as well as Johannesburg in South Africa and Harare in Zimbabwe. A Boeing B737-800 is on order for further expansion.

The maximum weight per piece of baggage is 32 kg for Business Class and 23 kg for Economy Class on all flights across the Atlantic. An infant without a seat is allowed 10 kg of free baggage allowance and, in addition, one fully foldable pushchair/stroller which can be carried in the passenger cabin provided there is space.
