Indonesia AirAsia began operations in 2005. The carrier started life as Awair in 1999 but ceased operations in 2002. Today it is 51% owned by local investors and 49% by AirAsia Berhad. Indonesia AirAsia is a low cost airline that flies domestic and regional services. The fleet is made up entirely of Airbus A320 aircraft configured in a single class layout. The airline serves over 30 destinations with a similar number of aircraft.

Check-in can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in begins 24 hours before departure and ends 60 minutes before departure. Domestic flights open 2 hours before departure, close 1 hour before departure, 30 minutes before departure (from Japan), and 45 minutes before departure (from other airports). International flights open 3 hours before departure and close 1 hour before departure (all airports).

Baggage

All guests (except infants) are allowed to carry on board two pieces of cabin baggage comprising of either: One cabin baggage or one laptop bag or one handbag or one small bag. Cabin Baggage: MUST NOT exceed the dimensions of 56cm (H) X 36cm (W) X 23cm (D). Laptop bag: MUST NOT exceed the dimensions of 40cm (H) X 30cm (W) X 10cm (L). The total weight of both pieces must not exceed 7kg. Checked Baggage: If you need to carry more, we have a range of checked baggage allowances for you to pre-book. Fees apply. Infants

Infants are defined as children younger than two years of age. Infants may fly without a seat on the plane, on the lap of an accompanying adult. If you wish, you can buy a seat for an infant at the infant fare. Children over two years of age must have their seats on the plane. If one adult is traveling with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant, and the other may be held on the lap.
