Airlines operating Boeing 737-800 airplanes

The 737-800 is the most successful variant of the Next Generation family of 737 airliners with over 5000 produced. It is also the most common single aisle airliner in service today. Boeing developed it as a successor to the 737-400 offering a maximum seating capacity of 189 passengers in a single class layout. Thanks to the new wing and more powerful engines, the 737-800 had dramatically improved performance compared to the earlier model. It also successfully competed against the A320 thanks to its larger passenger capacity and lower weight. The 737-800 can fly a typical two class load of 160 passengers over a distance of 2935nm (5435km). Today, production has shifted to the 737-8 MAX which has similar dimensions but more modern engines.
