Airlines operating Boeing 787-9 airplanes
The Boeing 787-9 is the most popular version of the Dreamliner designed for a typical two class seating of around 290 passengers and a range of 7600nm (14000km). The stretched variant entered service in 2014 with launch customer Air New Zealand. The 787-9 is meant to replace the B767-300ER and Airbus A330, offering considerably lower fuel consumption and more range than either. Boeing developed several enhancements for the 787-9 compared to the base model 787-8, resulting in a more capable and mature design. Over 600 units had been delivered by 2024 with a similarly large backlog of orders in the books.
