Check in rules
Check-in can be done at airport check-in counters as well as online/mobile/WeChat check-in, at check-in kiosks, SMS check-in. Check-in at the airport ends 30-45 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 45-60 minutes before departure for international flights. Online check-in is available for domestic flights from most cities of the country from 14:00 the day before departure, usually up to 60 minutes before departure.

Hand luggage may not exceed eight kilograms and may not be larger than 115 cm (sum of all dimensions). Items of hand baggage must be placed under the front row passenger seat or in a closed baggage compartment. Checked-in baggage must not exceed 45 kg, and the length, width and height must not exceed 20*40*55 cm.

Children from the age of five years are allowed to travel independently. Unaccompanied minors are defined as children who are five years of age or older but under 12 years of age on the date of travel and who travel unaccompanied by an adult passenger who is 18 years of age. Unaccompanied minors are adolescents 12 years of age or older but under or over the age of 18. Unaccompanied Minor Service must be requested at the time of booking and at least 48 hours before departure.

On the day of travel, infant passengers under two years of age must be accompanied by an adult passenger age 18 or older with total legal capacity in the same class. To ensure passenger safety, infants less than 14 days old are not allowed on the flight. Infants under two years of age on the travel date are charged the fare applicable to infants and cannot occupy a separate seat. On domestic flights, infants are set 10% of the infant fare applicable to the same class as the ticket purchased by the accompanying adult; China Southern Airlines has different infant fares for international flights

Small pets are allowed. Small live animals carried in luggage include dogs, cats, birds, or other pets kept in the household. All small live animals carried in checked baggage must be carried in a container. The size of the cage used for transportation of a tiny animal must not be larger than 90x60x66 cm or smaller than 5x15x20 cm. The maximum weight may not exceed 32 kg. To transport small animals, passengers must apply at the time of reservation and at least 72 hours before departure and receive a response from China Southern Airlines.
