Registration can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in begins 24 hours before departure and ends 60 minutes before departure. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure.

Checked Baggage for flights within Asia: Business Class- 30 kg; Economy Class- 20 kg. For flights to/from Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Australia: Business Class- 40 kg; Economy Class- 30 kg. For flights to/from the Americas: Business and Economy Class- Two 23 kg bags with maximum dimensions of 158 cm. On all Vietnam Airlines flights, each economy passenger is allowed one carry-on bag and additional personal items. The carry-on hand luggage must not weigh more than 7 kg, and the external dimensions must not exceed 115 centimeters. Business passengers may carry two carry-on bags with the same size and weight requirements.

Airlines offer special services for unaccompanied children between the ages of 2 and 18: a flight attendant service for unaccompanied minors. Unaccompanied minors aged 2 to 6 years old are allowed in economy class only. For children aged 2-12 years old unaccompanied minors service is compulsory. For children above 12 years old unaccompanied minors service is not compulsory and can be ordered on request of parents.

Infants are defined as children under two years of age. Children younger than seven days old are not allowed on the plane. Infants may fly without a seat on the plane. If you wish you can buy a seat for an infant at the infant fare. If one adult travels with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant, and the other may be held on the lap.

The transportation of pets in the passenger cabin is allowed under the following strict conditions: only dogs and cats aged ten weeks and over; the total weight of the animal and the kennel must not exceed 6 kg; the kennel must not exceed 35 x 30 x 20 cm and must be made of rigid plastic, fiberglass, metal, solid wood, plywood or welded metal netting. In addition, transportation of pets in checked baggage is subject to the following conditions: only dogs, cats and birds are allowed; the total weight of the animal and kennel must not exceed 32 kg; only one animal is allowed in one kennel.
