The airline was founded as Air Baltic on August 28, 1995. The company is Latvia's flagship carrier. Air Baltic's head office is located in Mārupe municipality, Latvia. The main hub is Riga International Airport. The secondary hubs are Tallinn Airport, Vilnius Airport, Tampere Airport (from May 2022). Air Baltic operates direct year-round and seasonal flights from Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, mainly to capital and tourist destinations in Europe. Check in rules

Check-in online or at the airport. Online check-in is available five days (118 hours) before scheduled departure for BUSINESS, CLASSIC, GREEN plus, and GREEN ticket holders. Online check-in for code-share flights (flights operated by another airline) is available 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Online check-in is available for connecting flights where the second flight is operated by another airline 24 hours before departure.

Baggage

One piece of luggage (55x40x23 cm) and one personal item (30x40x10 cm) may be taken in the cabin, the total weight of which may not exceed 8 kg unless the passenger is allowed to bring on board up to 12 kg. The maximum weight of each piece of baggage allowed on airBaltic flights is 23 kg, and its full size is 100x50x80 cm.

Unaccompanied minors

The unaccompanied children service is available for children aged five years and older. For children from 5 to 11 years old this service is compulsory. For children from 12 to 17 years old the service is available at the request of a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must remain at the airport until departure. For example, in Riga, Geneva, Düsseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, and Stuttgart, the parent or guardian must accompany the child until boarding if the child is going to a destination in the Schengen area.

Infants

Children under two years of age are considered infants and therefore eligible for a particular child fare. Infants older than eight days old may travel without any restrictions. Newborn babies less than eight days old may fly only with a valid medical certificate. Each infant must be accompanied by an adult at least 16 years old.

Pets

The airline carries animals (dogs and cats only) both in the cabin as hand luggage and in the luggage compartment as check-in baggage, depending on the size and weight of the animal. Information about the animal must be provided at the time of air ticket purchase. Dogs and cats may be transported in the cabin as hand baggage in the passenger's animal container. Maximum weight of a pet together with the container: 12 kg. Maximum dimensions of the container: 55 x 40 x 23 cm (Length x Width x Height). There may be no more than two pets in one container, and they must be of the same species
