Horizon Air was founded in 1981 and became part of the Alaska Air Group in 1986. It is a regional airline based at SeaTac, Washington. Horizon Air today only operates flights for its parent Alaska Airlines, serving over 40 destinations from its two hubs at Portland and Seattle. The airline uses a single type of airliner for its operations: The Embraer E175 with a mixed class configuration for 76 passengers.

Check in rules

To check in for a flight, you may choose from the following options: web Check-in, mobile Check-in, kiosk Check-in, ticket Counter Check-in. Online check-in begins 24 hours before departure and ends 40 minutes (domestic flights) and 60 minutes before departure (international flights). Check-in counters open two hours before departure and close 40 minutes (domestic flights) and 60 minutes before departure (international flights).

Baggage

Passengers are allowed only one carry-on bag and one purse/laptop bag or briefcase. All hand baggage may not exceed the maximum dimensions of 115 cm and the maximum weight limit allowed by the airline. Cabin baggage allowances may vary depending on the aircraft type, travel class (First, Premier, or Economy Class), international or domestic flights, and the itinerary. The checked-in baggage for Horizon Air may not exceed 157 cm in dimensions (length + width + height). Any single piece of baggage weighing more than 23 kg is not allowed.

Unaccompanied minors

Children over the age of five can travel alone. A juvenile companion service is required for children 5-7 years of age. Travel cannot begin between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Non-stop/direct flights only. Minor accompanying service is required for children over eight years of age.

Infants

Infants are defined as children younger than two years of age. Infants may fly without a seat on the plane, on the lap of an accompanying adult. If you wish, you can buy a seat for an infant at the infant fare. Children over two years of age must have their seats on the plane. If one adult travels with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant, and the other may be held on the lap.

Pets

The airline allows the carriage of small pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, and poultry) in the cabin if the animal's and the carrier's weight do not exceed 9 kg. Pets must be at least eight weeks old. Each passenger may travel with a maximum of two pets if they buy two seats. Up to two pets of the same breed may be carried in one container. Several small pets (including cats, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, pet birds, non-venomous reptiles, lop-sided pigs, rabbits, and tropical fish) are also allowed as registered cargo if the pet and container weigh no more than 68 kg.
