Check-in can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in for domestic flights begins 48 hours before departure and ends 45 minutes before departure. Online check-in for international flights starts 24 hours before departure and ends 90 minutes before departure. For domestic flights, the recommended check-in time is at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. The check-in deadline is 30 minutes before departure. For international flights, check-in opens 2-3 hours before departure time, and Virgin Australia recommends you check in at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Baggage

Carry-on allowance: one bag with dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm and a maximum weight of 7 kg, or two smaller bags with individual dimensions of 48 x 34 x 23 cm and a combined weight of 7 kg. A standard Economy passenger on a long-haul flight, such as Americas - Hong Kong, is permitted two checked bags that weigh no more than 23 kg each. Bags must not excess 158 cm in total dimensions. Business and Premium Economy passengers are permitted two 32 kg bags.

Unaccompanied minors

Children over the age of five can travel alone. The service is mandatory for children ages 5-11 traveling without an adult at least 15 years old. Children ages 12-15 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors, but the service is also optional for this age group. Children under five years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult at least 15 years old.

Infants

Children under two years are deemed ‘infants‘ by Virgin Australia and can travel on the lap of an accompanying adult – not requiring their own seat. However, each adult traveler is limited to one lap infant: which could be one parent traveling with one infant or two parents traveling with two infants, for instance.

Pets

Pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin with Virgin Australia. Pets can be transported through an International Pet and Animal Transportation Agent. You can either travel on the same flight as your pet or send them on their own.
