Registration can be done online (via the JAL website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in begins 24 hours before JAL departure and ends two hours before departure. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure.

Baggage

Each JAL passenger can carry one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. All carry-on luggage must adhere to the following Japan Airlines requirements: maximum carry-on luggage dimensions: 55cm x 40cm x 25cm; maximum weight of carry-on luggage is 10 kg. Checked Baggage is limited to the total weight of 45 kilograms. Each Baggage piece is limited to a maximum weight of 32 kilograms and maximum dimensions of 50 x 60 x 120 cm unless otherwise granted by Carrier.

Unaccompanied minors

JAL Unaccompanied minor service is mandatory for a child age 5-11 traveling without an adult. Children ages 12-17 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors, but the Japan Airlines service is optional for this age group as well.

Infants

Children under two years of age are considered infants. Infants younger than seven days old are not allowed on the Japan Airlines flight. Infants travel on the lap of an accompanying adult over 16 years old. One adult may travel with one infant.

Pets are not permitted to travel in the Japan Airlines cabin with their owners. Pets are not permitted to travel in the JAL cabin with their owners. Dogs and cats must be eight weeks or older to travel. French bulldogs and bulldogs will not be accepted.
