Southwest Airlines check-in options: automatic check-in, web check-in, mobile check-in, kiosk (totem) check-in. Online check-in begins 24 hours before Southwest Airlines departure and closes 60 minutes before departure. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure. Boarding closes at the following times for Southwest Airlines (WN) flights 30 minutes before scheduled departure. Boarding positions will be reserved for Customers with Early bird Check-in, in order to pass through the security checkpoint, you will need to retrieve your Southwest boarding pass online or at the airport at your convenience as early as 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.

Southwest Airlines allows one free carry-on bag and one personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger. Carry-on baggage, including handles and wheels, may not exceed 127 centimeters (61 x 41 x 28 cm or 24” (L) + 16” (W) + 10” (H)). One personal item should go under your seat. Each Southwest Airlines passenger is allowed two free checked bags. Golf bags and skis count toward your free checked bag if they are within the weight limit. At the airport you can check the bags with kiosk or with Southwest agent. Maximum dimensions of checked baggage is 157 centimeters (length + width + height), maximum weight is 23 kg. Sizing up your checked Southwest bags: 62 inches in size (length + width + height). More than three bags: $75 each. Oversized bag: $75 (max 80 inches). Overweight bag: $75 (max 100 lbs.) You must check baggage at least 60 minutes before your Southwest Airlines flight's scheduled departure. If traveling from Aruba, check your bags at least 75 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure.

You may book a Southwest flight for children ages five through 11 who will be traveling unaccompanied in one of the following ways: Online after you enter the child’s passenger information and proceed to check out, you will be asked whether they’ll be traveling with someone over the age of 12. If not, they’re considered an Unaccompanied Minor. At our airport ticket counter or by phone: If you book a child's travel over the phone or at the airport, tell the Employee that the child on the reservation is an Unaccompanied Minor and provide the child's age. When you make a reservation for an Unaccompanied Minor, you will be required to provide the information described below and pay an Unaccompanied Minor service charge. Once the UM reservation is booked, you will need to provide the confirmation number to the person designated to pick up or drop off the child.

On Southwest Airlines child over 14 days old and under two (2) years of age not occupying a seat may be carried free of charge when traveling with someone 12 years of age or older. Southwest employees may ask for age verification at any point, so please travel with a copy or original form of any government-issued ID, such as a birth certificate or passport for your child. A medical release for travel is required for any infant under 14 days old. If you plan to travel with an infant as a Lap Child you must pay the taxes and fees that apply to the international portion of the infant’s itinerary. If you're traveling with an infant or small child, you should know that proper use of a child restraint system (CRS or car-seats) enhances child safety on aircraft. For this reason, we and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) strongly recommend that infants and small children who weigh 40 pounds or less be secured in an appropriate CRS when traveling by Southwest. Infants are defined as children under two years of age. Infants may travel with Southwest Airlines without minimum age restrictions, provided a medical clearance is shown for infants under 14 days of age.

Southwest Airlines allows customers to carry small pets (cats and dogs only) in the cabin on domestic flights. Pets are not allowed on international flights. Each customer may take on board only one pet carrier. The carrier may contain up to 2 cats or dogs of the same species and will be considered your carry-on baggage. For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers with soft or hard sides must be no larger than 18.5 x 8.5 x 13.5 inches (47 cm x 22 cm x 34 cm).
