Check in rules
Various options are available for passengers to check in before or after arriving at the airport: web/mobile check-in, kiosk express check-in, and airport check-in. Web Check-in Service is available from 48 hours before the scheduled departure time (24 hours before departure – Canada & the US flights) of flight. Kiosk express check-in service can be used up to 60 minutes before international flights and up to 20 minutes before domestic flights. Check-in desks open two hours before departure and close 40 minutes before departure.

In addition to a personal item (overcoat, laptop, purse), passengers are allowed one carry-on bag whose dimensions (length + height + width) does not exceed 115 cm/45 ins and does not weigh more than 12 kg/25 lbs. First and Business Class passengers are allowed two carry-on bags whose dimensions (length + height + width) do not exceed 115 cm/45 ins and do not weigh more than 18 kg/40 lbs. Each Economy Class passenger is allowed two pieces of luggage (to 23 kg/50 lbs, and the sum of the dimensions of both bags does not exceed 107 in/273 cm). Each Business Class passenger is allowed two pieces of luggage (to 32 kg/70 lbs, and the sum of the dimensions of each bag does not exceed 62 in/158 cm). The airline provides an unaccompanied minor service that allows children to travel alone. Children aged 5 to 12 can travel unaccompanied on domestic flights. Children aged 5 to 11 years old may travel alone on international flights. Teenagers between 12 and 16 can travel alone on international flights. If they travel only on Korean Air flights, this service is optional, and there is an additional charge.

Infants under two years of age - traveling with an accompanying adult does not require a separate seat when traveling on the lap of an accompanying adult. The recommended infant age for travel is one week or older. If desired, you may purchase an infant seat on the airplane at the child fare. Children over two years of age must have their seat on the plane. If one adult travels with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant, and the other may be held on the lap.

Small dogs, cats, and birds weighing less than 7 kg (15 pounds), including their carriers, are allowed on Korean Air flights. Two pets of the same breed under the age of 6 months may fly in the same carrier. Pets must be at least eight weeks old. Large pets are also allowed in the cargo hold. The weight of the container with the pet may not exceed 32 kg.
