Thai AirAsia X was founded in 2013. It is a joint venture between Thai AirAsia and AirAsia X of neighbouring Malaysia. The airline operates a low cost model for medium to long haul operations, augmenting Thai AirAsia's short haul system. The fleet is made up of A330 family aircraft and includes new A330-900 Neo examples. Flights operate out of its base at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport and mostly offer two classes of service with a dedicated business section at the front of the cabin.
